Almost everyone snores occasionally. Snoring
affects around 80% of men and 20% of women over 40 worldwide.
While some snoring can be harmless, snoring can be a symptom
of Sleep Apnea.
Snoring usually occurs when the airway at the back of the throat
constricts, causing air to be inhaled at an increased speed
and pressure. During sleep, our bottom jaw and tongue falls
back to the rear of the throat. This along with the soft tissue
(tonsils, soft palate and uvula) vibrate, which creates the
anti-social and debilitating sound of snoring.
Benefits of Not Snoring
Wake up feeling more rested and energetic.
Eliminate excessive daytime sleepiness and the irresistible
urge to nap.
Breathe more easily and naturally while sleeping via increased
air flow.
Not waking feeling thirsty from a dry mouth and throat.
Eliminates the choking sensation during sleep.
Increased virility.
Increased blood flow and oxygen levels.
Peaceful nights sleep for your partner.
The sleep Disorders Dental Society
(SDDS) in Pennsylvania, likens this blockage to us
trying to drink through a straw that is stuck in
ice-cream, the harder you suck, the flatter the straw becomes.
The airway obstruction won't clear until the brain's oxygen
level falls low enough to partially wake the sleeper.
Snoring could have dangerous effects on your brain's blood supply.
The journal "Stroke" published a recent research paper
on a group of snorers treated at the University Hospital in
Freiberg, Germany.
Quote "The researchers found that during heavy snoring
these soft tissues and tongue momentarily block breathing altogether
and that there is a significant fall in the principle arteries
in the brain could, say the researchers, result in a stroke."
Signs of Sleep Apnea:

Long pauses in breathing while sleeping.
Why can
snoring be dangerous?
Snoring is often a symptom of Sleep Apnea,
which is frequently associated with:
Hypertension.
Stroke.
Cardiac arrest and other cadiopulminary problems.
Unexplained Nocturnal Mortality.
YOUR OPTIONS
Surgery Nasal - Increasing the diameter of the nasal passage by
removing the tissue to assist airflow
Throat Surgery - The removal of tissue including reducing the
uvula.
The above surgical procedures are painful, expensive and provide
no guarantee of success. A side effect of throat surgery can
be the involuntary movement of fluids into the nasal passages.
CPAP Machine Pressurised mask worn forcing a continuous air flow into
the nose and mouth.
It's bulky, noisy, expensive and constrictive.
Partners usually still can't sleep owing to the noise.
Nasal Plaster Strips Only expand nasal passage, does not alleviate soft tissue
vibration.
Nasal Strips being a disposable item, may be perceived in
the short term to be cost efficient. However, usage over several
years becomes expensive and as stated earlier does not stop
the soft tissue from vibrating.
Weightloss This will help all above procedures as it reduces fatty
tissues in the throat area resulting in reduced vibration.

QUESTIONS MOST ASKED...
How long
will it take to get my
appliance fitted?
We will make an appointment for you to have the Zx appliance
fitted within 10-14 days of us receiving your order, however
in some cases it may take a few days longer to get an appointment.
Can I use my own dentist?
There are hundreds of authorised Dentists within the UK and
Ireland. If we do not have a dentist local to you, we can provide
your dentist with full instructions of how to fit the appliance.
How long does it take to get used to the
appliance?
Like any other dental appliance it takes a while to get used

this decreases with use and returns to ordinary levels.
Does the
appliance reach back into the throat?
No!
fits onto the top teeth only and still allows vertical and lateral
motion of the lower jaw while being worn. This is imported as
there are similar products on the market which stop both jaws
from moving, resulting in severe morning jaw muscle soreness.
Can I still breathe through my mouth while wearing the appliance?
Yes!
patented design allows wearers to continue mouth breathing.
What if I am still snoring after being fitted?

Case Study - Bill
Bill couldn't remember how long he'd
been suffering the debilitating effects of heavy snoring. He
dozed off during the day and at the table at dinner parties.
No one wanted to sleep in the room next to him. He had tried
everything; nasal strips, shaped pillows and finally, expensive
painful surgery to remove throat tissue. After an uncomfortable
recovery, the surgery didn't stop the snoring; it just changed
its sound to a higher pitch.
Desperate for an answer, Bill read about the Zx appliance in
the paper. It was fitted by a dentist in around 15 minutes and
took about three nights for him to get used to wearing it. "I
had instant success from the first night. Now I wake up refreshed
without the dry mouth and tiredness that I used to wake up with."
Case Study - Richard
Richard was a chronic snorer with daytime
drowsiness and napping problems. Over the years, he had tried
nostril dilators, pillows and adhesive nasal strips. None had
worked. He bought the Zx appliance as a birthday present for
his wife, Sally. After years of putting up with Richard's snoring,
it seemed like a hopeful gift. The Zx appliance was fitted in
about 15 minutes and he got used to the appliance very quickly.
Sally noticed the difference in Richard from the first morning.
"He said he felt great on the first day. On the second
day he said he felt terrific and hadn't realised how badly he
had been sleeping for years." According to Sally, Richard
is much more energetic. "He wakes up in the morning feeling
bright and full of go instead of being tired and not wanting
to get up... I've got a new husband!"
A Dentists View
Dr. Peter Magnus is a dentist as well
as an ex-snorer. Dr. Magnus attended a sleep clinic to find
a solution to his sleep apnea. He was horrified to find that
he holds the record at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney
Sleep Clinic where it was discovered that whilst asleep he did
not breathe for 142 seconds!
Dr. Magnus decided to trial the Zx appliance and now says, "My
wife calls the Zx a miracle! She tells me I don't snore or stop
breathing anymore. She's even moved back into the bedroom, so
it must work."
So impressed by the success of his own treatment, Dr. Magnus
has begun to use the Zx appliance in his own clinic. "I've
fitted over 100 of these devices with 100 per cent success rate.
It really works."
